There was a red thong. Strategically placed red, white and blue stickers. And, a pair of flat-soled shoes — until she ran out of them.
She also carried an American flag that billowed behind her, until it was grabbed by a police officer as she sprinted down the 18th fairway to laughter and chants of “U-S-A! U-S-A!”
The streaker’s appearance at the Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin was commanding more Internet attention today than two dozen of the world’s best golfers.
Dublin police this afternoon identified the near-naked woman as 23-year-old Kimberly Webster of Worthington.
After being nabbed yesterday afternoon, and draped in a police officer’s coat, Webster was taken to the Dublin Justice Center and cited for disorderly conduct, a minor misdemeanor carrying a $99 fine. She can either pay the fine or show up in mayor's court on Oct. 22 and plead not guilty.
She was released from the police station — once her clothing was found at Muirfield Village (at the volunteer center off the No. 6 tee) so she could depart more modestly than when she arrived.

In an interview with radio station WZLX-FM in Boston, a woman named “Kim” said she decided the Presidents Cup streaking stunt would be “fun.” She said she was native of the Boston area.
The woman said she moved from the Los Angeles area about a week ago to stay with a grandmother living in the Columbus area.
She said her grandmother thought her near-nude appearance was “funny,” while her mother was livid.

The Dispatch's reporting on this was very deficient. In the first place, the headline sensationalizes what happened by calling it streaking. The dictionary defines streaking as a naked dash in public. But the article begins by saying the woman was wearing a red thong, and later says she was near-naked. So what happened wasn't streaking; the woman was clothed in perfectly legal - although unusual for the setting - public attire. Moreover, in altering the photo above to block out the woman's breasts, The Dispatch violated the Code of Ethcis of the Society of Professional Journalists. It requires journalists to "never distort the content of news photos or video." If The Dispatch both exaggerates and covers up what happened in a simple story like this, what can we expect from the newspaper in reporting on complex political and sociological issues?

If you want to see a woman's chest, go get a Playboy. Newspapers have a responsibility and showing a fully-naked person is not what newspapers do.

Mark, If you don't see the signficant issues here, I suggest you start focusing on more important things than OSU sports. In the first place, The Dispatch did sensationalize what happened by calling it something different than it was. Second, The Dispatch did violate the Code of Ethics of the Society of Professional Journalists, which contains no exception for altering photos of breasts, whether female or male. Third, promoting body shame is a sociological and political issue. What we see in some parts of the Middle East - with women forced to wear burqas and having other horrible restrictions placed on them - is an extreme version of where the attitude leads. But it also causes problems in the U.S. *** therapist and researcher Aileen Goodson states that "when body shame, ***ual fears, ***ual abuse, or inadequate *** education occurs - physical and emotional stresses and dysfunctions of all sorts appear." She also says that "body shame and ***ual repression" are "far more prevalent among *** offenders than among the general population." There's no evidence that the sight of female breasts harms adults or children. Does anyone think the children in the photo - who obviously saw the uncensored version of what happened - were harmed by it? It's ridiculous to think so. But as Goodson and other ***ologists have pointed out, there's plenty of evidence that numerous people are harmed by the type of puritanical body shame that The Dispatch is promoting. Finally, The Dispatch is being ***ist and misogynist in its willingness to show male breasts but not female breasts. The newspaper apparently thinks the female breast is too shameful, disgusting, and offensive to show, whereas the male breast does not have those problems. That's as sick and incorrect as the numerous other forms of discrimination that have been placed on women for centuries.
